Introduction Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) is defined by multiple risk factors that predict type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular complications, such as myocardial infarction, especially in women. Consequently the aim of this preliminary study was to investigate in vivo and ex vivo the effects of a high-fat-high-sucrose diet (HFHSD) on the development of metabolic syndrome (MetS), cardiac morphology and function of female Wistar rat.
