              <p>This article explores the parallels between contemporary speculative finance and narrative theory, arguing that financial instruments rely on mechanisms akin to narrative tension. Through a fictionalized scenario, it draws an analogy between the pricing of financial options—particularly the Black–Scholes model—and the cognitive processes by which readers anticipate, revise, and project possible outcomes in a narrative. Drawing on cognitive narratology (surprise, curiosity, suspense) and on philosophical and literary references (Aristotle, Mallarmé, Mark Fisher, Donna Haraway), the article suggests that narratives, including speculative and science-fictional forms, provide valuable tools for thinking about economic uncertainty, systemic risk, and contemporary collapse, beyond the limits of purely mathematical models.</p>
            </abstract>
            <abstract xml:lang="fr">
              <p>Cet article propose un rapprochement entre la finance contemporaine et la théorie narrative, en montrant que les produits financiers spéculatifs mobilisent des mécanismes proches de la tension narrative. À partir d’une fable située dans un contexte de marché, il met en parallèle la valorisation des options financières (notamment le modèle Black-Scholes) et la manière dont un lecteur anticipe, révise et projette des issues possibles dans un récit. En s’appuyant sur la narratologie cognitive (surprise, curiosité, suspense) et sur des références philosophiques et littéraires (Aristote, Mallarmé, Fisher, Haraway), l’article défend l’idée que les récits — y compris spéculatifs ou de science-fiction — constituent des outils pertinents pour penser l’incertitude économique, les risques systémiques et les effondrements contemporains, au-delà des seuls modèles mathématiques.</p>
