When the teacher uses common language instead of geometry lexicon

Résumé

The understanding and proper use of mathematical lexicon, particularly that of geometry, are part of the expectations of the programs for each learning cycle. The official instructions insist on the acquisition of the lexicon by the pupils no matter the discipline (Eduscol 2015) and a fortiori in mathematics (MEN 2016). The idea is to promote the reading, the exploitation and the communication of results from various representations, to help learning, to argue, to describe and to better conceive the objects studied.
